2017 Smart Fortwo Electric Drive from Daimler: Best City Smartcar To Date?

Daimler has been known to produce budget-friendly consumer vehicles. However, is there more into Daimler's upcoming compact green car other than its affordability?

This Smart Electric Drives comes with a three-phase motor with 80 horsepower and 118 ll-ft torque output. It is powered by a 17.2-kWh lithium-ion battery. One of the drawbacks is its one transmission ratio. However, this should not pose as a huge problem.

The Daimler's EV at first may come as slow and its engine weak. The Smart Fortwo EV is meant to be driven around the city. It wasn't designed for drag races nor for steep-hill country drives.

This electric car came with 240-volt source, which can be recharged for 2.5 hours -- enough for a 100-mile travel. The charging equipment is undergoing upgrades which meant to reduce charging time to only 45 minutes.

There is no official announcement yet from Daimler on the range of its 2017 Smart Fortwo price. However, most speculated that it will be around the mid- $20,000.

The sale date for The 2018 Smart Fortwo EV is scheduled on Spring 2017. The Cabrio model will then be available by June of the same year.

This 2017 green city car's disadvantages would only come up as a result of a buyer-mismatch. This is not meant for long-drives in between countries where charging may surely be a problem.

The Smart Fortwo's compact design addressed narrow street driving and easy-parking. Its size is targeted toward parking spaces that the standard fuel-powered cars may not fit into.

Prospect 2017 Smart Fortwo buyers should take into consideration having a garage or if not a parking space that would permit charging. Electric cars are just not meant for apartment owners who don't have their own parking area.

Electric car prospect buyers should also take into account charging and re-charging options. This green city car from Daimler is also not intended for long drives.

Compact electric vehicles are certainly meant for cities. Particularly, Daimler designed the 2017 Smart Fortwo engine for those who literally just drive around the city.

Electric vehicles have quickly gained a high-demand. However, with these demands comes adjustments.

The growth of green car owners also spurred a nation-wide demand for more accessible outdoor charging outlets, similar to that of the Netherlands. These outdoor charging outlets once provided, could mean non-garage owners may allow them to own an electric car.
