Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard Revealed, Bomb-Proof And Luxurious In All Way

Mercedes-Benz continues its tradition of offering armored versions of its most luxurious creation of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman. The "Guard" variant is designed to provide optimal protection to heads of state, royalties and other people at risk as such protection class VR9 and Directive ERV 2010 is implemented. This means that even an attack from a rocket-propelled grenade and direct impacts of a multitude of weapons couldn't be felt inside.

The Perfect Bodyguard

To make the car particularly resistant, it has built a special steel between the body and interior panels. In addition, aramid components and other resistant materials are put around the outer providing extra protection.

Everything from the floor to the windows is reinforced to withstand bullets, shrapnel and explosive devices. The windows have been coated with polycarbonate, except for the back window that were instead give steel screens to protect its occupants. The armor plating on the doors is so dense that Mercedes has had to fit motors to the hinges so that no one other than Superman can open and close them easily, without the permission of those inside.

The downside of this is that with all this extra protection, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman Guard 6.5 meters long weighs no less than 5.1 tons. Because of this added weight the maximum vehicle speed has been reduced to 160 km/h.

In addition to all this protection, the "Mercedes Bodyguard" includes sirens, radio dual-band, a battery for emergency starts sirens and an external speaker.

In terms of mechanics, the vehicle remains the same as the version Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman. That means it is powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine with twin turbo offering 530 hp and 830 Nm of torque from just 1,600 rpm.

Luxury At Its Best

Inside, passengers will have the highest level of luxury available to any production car. This includes executive seats at the rear, which can be reclined up to 43.5 degrees and have an adjustable leg support passengers. As expected, also it has the same functions heating and massage have most of the equipment and technological functions of its sister variant Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

"Besides providing spacious seating in first-class comfort for high-ranking passengers, the Mercedes-Maybach Pullman is of course the embodiment of exclusivity at its highest level," Ola Källenius, Mercedes-Benz Cars head of sales and marketing, said.

So far, only the price of the Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullman in Germany was revealed and it is about 1.5 million in Euros. Price of it in the United States is still not revealed but it is expected to be delivered to lucky customers on the second half of 2017 and will grace the hall of the Paris Motor Show in just a few days.
