Samsung to Advance Galaxy S8 Release?

Industry analysts believe that Samsung's next move would be to release the S8 model earlier after its recent Galaxy Note 7 recall. Delaying the phone to its set date on the first quarter of 2017 can potentially hurt the company financially.

Exploding Galaxy Note 7 Leads to Global Recall

After reported incidents of exploding Galaxy Note 7s while being charged, Samsung immediately announced a global recall. Faulty batteries on numerous units were traced to be the source of the explosions. The company has already announced that it will offer new Note replacements in selected countries including Korea, UK and Australia.

"If Samsung's flagship smartphone launch is delayed to the end of the first quarter of next year, the profitability of the mobile business division could be worsened next year," analyst Kim Sang Pyo explained in Korea Herald.

"Regardless of the sales resumption, an earlier launch of a new quality flagship model seems to be the most realistic solution to dealing with the current recall crisis."

Quartz has previously reported that the recall cost Samsung approximately $26 billion in value. Sang Pyo's suggestion to release the Galaxy S8 earlier can turn the situation around. If Samsung takes this into consideration, the device might be in the market before the end of the year.

Samsung S8 Features

According to reports, the Samsung S8 is expected to release in two models, SM-G950 and SM-G955 with codenames Dream and Dream2 respectively. The first will have 5.1inch dual-curved display, and the other with 5.5inches Express reports.

It's said that Samsung might do a dramatic redesign on its Samsung S8. There's a possibility that Samsung might follow its rival's lead and remove the headphone port on its model as well.

We might not be in suspense very long for what Samsung has in store if it makes the decision to advance its release.
