iPhone 7 Release: New Features, Price and New Color

Ahead of its release, rumours of the iPhone 7's new features had gone rampant, and long-term customers would need to get used to these if these turned out to be true.

The latest addition to the long line of already existing iPhones will be unveiled in Cupertino on Wednesday September 7, and a KGI Security analyst has listed down several new features that customers might come across when it officially hits the shelves.

These features, according to Maxim, include as follows:

  1. 2GB RAM for iPhone 7, 3GB RAM for iPhone 7 Plus
  2. 2x 12MP dual rear camera limited to iPhone 7 Plus, uses 1x wide angle and 1x telephoto lenses
  3. 3.5mm headphone jack removed
  4. 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage tiers that will replace 16GB, 64GB and 128GB
  5. 3D Touch 2.0 sensor with more distinct haptic feedback
  6. Antenna bands removed from the back of both models for cleaner look
  7. Basic IPX7 water resistance - both phones can withstand splashes and full submersion for up to 30 minutes. Not quite Galaxy S7 level (one hour+), but close.
  8. Camera flash LEDs doubled from two to four with warm and cool colours
  9. Home button replaced with non-clicking touch sensor with haptic feedback
  10. Lightning EarPods and a 3.5mm to Lightning headphone adaptor included in the box
  11. New True Tone displays like the iPad Pro range, with laser based proximity sensors for faster response times
  12. Next generation A10 chipset sees CPUs hit 2.45GHz clock speeds and 20-30% performance gains
  13. Second external speaker and integrated amplifier for louder, richer output
  14. Two new colours: dark black and piano black (latter in limited quantities for 256GB model); space grey colour option ended
  15. Upgraded ambient light sensors on both new iPhone cameras for better low light shots

Prices for the iPhone 7 line will vary, depending on the number of storage, with the lower spec phone with 32 GB storage reportedly costing around $795, while the highest spec phone - the iPhone 7 Plus with 256 GB storage - worth more than $,1200, according to the Mirror UK.
