Zayn Malik has cancelled his concert in Dubai because of anxiety issues, which he feels made him not confident to headline his first major solo show.

The singer was scheduled to appear at a concert in Dubai on October 7. However, concert organizers 117 Live revealed in a statement on their website that the said concert had been canceled and that those who bought tickets will have their money returned.

"I have been working over the last three months to overcome my extreme anxiety around major live solo performances I feel I am making progress," Malik said in a message that was posted on the organizers' official website, according to Reuters.

He added, "But I have today acknowledged that I do not feel sufficiently confident to move forward with the planned show in Dubai in October ... I am truly sorry to disappoint you."

The 23-year-old broke millions of teenage girl's hearts when he chose to leave One Direction, then the biggest-selling "boy band" in the world, in the middle of their global tour in March 2015 because he no longer wished to be part of the band and wanted the opportunity to live a normal life.

The group first came to prominence when they were put together as a group on the seventh series of "The X Factor UK" after initially auditioning for the show as soloists. They reached the live shows, making it all the way to the grand finals where they placed third.

Months after Malik's departure, the remaining four members - Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson - soldiered on and went on to release an album as a four-piece, before announcing that they would be taking a break to pursue solo ventures.

Malik went on to release his debut album entitled "Mind of Mine." Besides music, he is also slated to embark on an acting career by a television show about boy band called "Boys," which will air on NBC, according to BBC.
