Feel Good Stories: NBA Star Jrue Holiday Gives Up Career To Care For Pregnant Wife With Brain Tumor

Jrue Holiday just had his best season in NBA last year, averaging 16.8 points, 6.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest in 65 games. However, the New Orleans Pelicans point guard will miss the start, and possibly the rest, of the 2016-2017 NBA season.

The reason? The star player opted to tend to his pregnant wife who had just been diagnosed with brain tumors, possibly resulting from a major pregnancy complication.

Honoring the Vow

When a couple gets married, they make a vow to be there for each other in sickness and in health. It's a story that will just make you say "aww" as it is a very sweet thing to do. Despite this, it is still sad to see Holiday gives up his career when it seems that he is at the forefront of his fourth season with the Pelicans and yet another great NBA season.

"My family comes before basketball. I'm obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else." Jrue Holiday said

Jrue's wife, Lauren, is a well-known American women's football star who recently retired due to her pregnancy. Throughout her career, she achieved gold medals at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics. She and her husband met at UCLA when they were still both students. They were married in 2013 in a picturesque ceremony.

Fighting the Disease

Doctors diagnosed that the tumor is still not considered benign and they will not take action until the baby's delivery takes place, which is scheduled around mid-October. From there, they will have to wait about 6 weeks to proceed with the surgery with the hope that everything goes well.

Fans and supporters of the two athletes have rallied behind them on Twitter, sending some love and prayers. We are also with them in these tough times and hope that soon, Lauren's condition will get better.

After all, this world needs some good news.
