Lexus Develops New Race Car; Japan Super GT Series

Car company Lexus has unveiled its new race car which is LC500-based, and would be one of the race cars which would compete during the Super GT500 series, which would be held next year in Japan. This particular race car is one of the LC500 sports cars which is expected to be out in Australian car markets next year and is considered to raise the hype for the launching of all new LC500 series of race cars, more models of which, would be announced and released soon.

Two versions of the LC500 have been revealed previously, one during this year's motor show in Detroit, and the other one being shown at the motor show in Geneva, still from this year. The former, shown in Detroit being the V8 LC500, with a 5.0L engine capacity, engine power rating of 348kW, and the latter being the V6 hybrid, LC500 with a 3.5L engine capacity.

The launch of LC500 cars by Lexus is the manufacturer's way of trying to bring back the glory days of its line of sports cars, which began with the LFA supercar, and that of Toyota's. The Lexus cars which are manufactured for racing purposes would weigh greater than a tonne, and would be equipped with a four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 2.0-liter capacity.

The company also believes that the LC500 was intended for touring and going places, but it could also well adapt to conditions needed for racing. Features of the LC500 race car include more widened fenders, bigger spoiler and diffusers at the rear side, and also, more vents which enable better extraction of heat and downward force.

Given these developments and new race car launches from Lexus, the Launce of the Super GT Series for Japan, it is expected to be a great year for Lexus.
