2017 Porsche Panamera: New Video Reveals The Technological Marvel That It Is

The new 2017 Panamera is already turning out to be a must have for those who prefer high performance sedans, are die-hard fans of the Porsche brand and of course can afford them. And lest anybody had any doubts if the new 2017 Panamera won't be enough for them, here is a video to convince them the new Panamera is indeed special.

To begin with, the 2017 Panamera comes with new powertrain options, sits on a new chassis and is bristling with technology both inside out.

For instance, there is the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus that distributes torque to either of the rear wheels depending on the load condition. As AutomobileMag explained, the outside wheel will benefit from more torque during cornering to ensure better vehicle dynamics.

Then there is the Porsche Active Suspension Management that contributes to optimum functioning of the magnetic-damper and air-spring systems. Similarly, the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport makes electromechanical adjustments to the anti-roll bars to allow for stiffness.

Overall, there are a lot of mechanicals and electronics at work here, all contributing to allow for a smooth and stable ride on the new Panamera. However, it's not just hardware at work as all of it is backed by suitable software to ensure everything works optimally and at all times. As a rough estimate of how extensive the software is, while the outgoing Panamera featured software comprising of 2 million lines of code, the new 2017 Panamera software code make up 100 million lines.

Special mention must also be made of the aerodynamics that gets enhanced by the new rear spoiler with three built-in settings. In the normal state, the spoiler remains contracted inside a recess but would get deployed automatically once the speed increases to ensure there is enough downforce exerted on the rear wheels. For instance, at the most extreme angle of deployment, the spoiler would be exerting an extra 440 pounds of force on the rear when the vehicle is doing more than 186 mph.

The interiors too have been freshly laid out with a large touchscreen dominating things here. Even the air-con vents are electrically adjustable to touch-sensitive sliders and fold away nicely when not in use, Motor1 reported.

Then there are new powertrain options as well promising oodles of power and torque. Overall, the 2017 Panamera does come across as a luxurious four door sedan but underneath the shiny exterior, there is no mistaking Porsche's racing lineage at work here. As it does with any Porsche vehicle.
