Ford Fusion Hybrid Sales Spike in Los Angeles in June

California's love affair with alternative fuel vehicle continues unabated with sales of both the Ford Fusion Energi and the Hybrid witnessing a healthy growth in the state.

According to CarScoops, sales of the Ford Fusion Energi witnessed a growth of 39 percent while the Hybrid went for 35 percent better sales. The company attributed the growth to the consumers increasing demand for clean energy vehicles that are also fun to drive.

What makes the spike in sales all the more significant is the fact that Los Angeles represents the largest car market in the US. What makes the Ford Fusion sales revelation all the impressive is that it comes on the back of a 5 percent dip that mid sized sedans have witnessed so far in LA.

The Fusion has already emerged as the second best seller in Ford's line-up of cars in Los Angeles as well as the entire North America. with the F-Series truck leading the pack.

"The spike in Fusion Hybrid and Energi sales is a testament to Ford's advanced engineering team developing fuel-efficient and fun-to-drive electric vehicles offering customers the widest range of choice in the segment," said Wade Jackson, Ford Fusion marketing manager.

Further, as Green Car Report points out, the above sales figure represents only retail sales and not fleet sales of the vehicles.

Countrywide sales of the new green energy Fusions for the first fove months of the year however presents a mixed picture. Ford managed to sell 8,945 units of the Fusion Hybrid during the period in the US, which marks a slup of 19 percent, claimed AutoBlog. However, Fusion Energi went for sales of more than 5,500 vehicles which marks a increase of 55 percent compared to the year ago period.

The Fusion Hybrid costs about $3,000 more than the standard gasoline Fusion while the Fusion Energi commands an even higher price premium of $9,000 over its gasoline counterpart.

Ford revealed the 2017 Fusion Energi has an EPA certified range of 610 miles or 981 km on a full tank of gas and a battery fully charged.
