Tesla Brakes Caused The Orlando Fatal Crash? CEO Elon Musk Speaks Out!

Tesla has been in the headlines for months after the Tesla Model S got involved in a tragic incident that killed a man in Florida. However, it looks like that its brake had caused the crash, not the Autopilot.

It was reported previously that Tesla and Mobileye parted ways due to the car crash. The blame must be reportedly on the latter's Autopilot system that failed to sense an incoming truck.

Notably, the 45-year old Joshua Brown was driving his Tesla Model S car when the 18-wheeler truck collided on his way. He tragically passed away.

The Autopilot that was installed on the car was not able to detect the truck amidst the fact that the system consists of a camera, a radar, and few ultrasonic sensors. However, the New York Times reported that Tesla Motors Inc. is now considering that the "crash prevention system" was also to blame for the accident.

According to the news, the automaker told Senate investigators that the automatic braking system must have detected the truck, but was not able to respond quicklyWhile it is unclear why Tesla is separating the braking system to the Autopilot, analysts believed that the two should work together.

"But either the car didn't know it had to stop, or it did know and wasn't able to stop. That involves Autopilot and the automatic braking," says Kelly Blue Book senior analyst Karl Brauer.

On the other hand, CEO Elon Musk, along with Tesla execs, are yet to give their response to the analysts. Previously the Musk only said on Twitter that "Radar tunes out what looks like an overhead road sign to avoid false braking events," as we quote.

The investigation about the root of the car crash is still ongoing. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding Tesla.
