Scientists Invent ‘Weather Proof’ Tires

Next time you plan to buy a pair of tires from a showroom nearby you, about  'Adaptive Tires.'

Adaptive Tires are equipped with electronic sensors that recognize different sorts of terrain and will alter as per the environment.

Soon all the problems of changing your tires as the summer hits your door or any other worries with your age old tires will be a thing of the past. According to a group of researchers at Leipzig university, where a group of researchers are developing world's first ever 'intelligent' tire which automatically transforms itself to the changing weather conditions while your favorite car is in motion.

A group of researchers headed by Detlef Riemer at the University of Applied Sciences in Leipzig performed the functioning process of the 'miracle tire' at the Hanover Fair, which is known as the world's biggest industrial fair taking place in Germany every year.

"Today's choices of tires are always a compromise between the ability to brake and petrol consumption," Riemer told reporters at the Hanover Fair. "The car driver has to take into consideration every sort of weather conditions and you can't change tires while you're driving. That means your car is always equipped with the best possible tire and noise and petrol consumption is automatically optimized to."

Adding further on the 'adaptive tire', Riemer said the tires not only adapt to the changing weather conditions no matter summer or winter, the 'intelligent tires' also have the brains to think while taking them for a drive.

"The driver no longer has to think about adapting their tires. The tire itself thinks too," Riemer said.

Work is not complete just yet, researchers continue to further improve the thinking capability of the adaptive tires.
