Apple Siri Update: VA Can Now Answer Questions About Rape, Suicide and Sports

Apple Siri seems to be getting wiser as time passes by. The famous virtual assistant for Apple devices now has added information about sexual abuse, suicide and sports.

The tech giant recently updated the responses of the VA for confessions like "I was raped," and "I want to kill myself." Earlier, Siri provided inappropriate replies to the statement of users like "I was beaten up by my husband" and "I am being abused" which alarmed the authorities, according to Tech Times

Recent findings reveal that the virtual assistant has now improved. When prompted with confessions related to rape, a quick access to the National Sexual Assault Hotline is being provided, the publication reports.

The latest improvement has gladdened the authorities since Apple is now working with them for a common cause which is to help people who are experiencing violence in any way possible. The Vice President of victim services for the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) Jennifer Marsh has expressed the agency's excitement for the update.

"Apple reached out to us and they were very responsive with updating Siri to meet the needs of survivors. We're thrilled that Siri is now directing users in need to the National Sexual Assault Hotline and we look forward to an ongoing collaboration with Apple," said Marsh as per CNN.

Dr. Eleni Linos, an associate professor at the the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine is also happy about the action of Apple. Linos praised the company for paying attention and responding to the needs of the society.

Earlier, Siri responds to the aforementioned concerns with "I don't know what you mean." Now, the virtual assistant replies with, "if you think you have experienced sexual abuse or assault, you may want to reach out to someone at the National Sexual Assault Hotline."

Meanwhile, Siri has also improved in the area of sports with additional knowledge about baseball stats, scores, and trivia. According to Tech Crunch, the intelligent personal assistant can now tell info about the game's history.
