2016 Chevrolet Camaro Finally Debuts This Weekend in Detroit

The day is almost here. After weeks of teaser photos and small details, General Motors will finally unveil the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro on May 16.

Nearly 1,000 people are expected to be on hand for the day-long event, which is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. at Detroit's Belle Isle Grand Prix course this Saturday

If you didn't manage to get a ticket to attend, you're not alone. Spots for the event closed within eight hours after opening, according to GM.

"I wish we could accommodate more people on Belle Isle, but we are limited by space for the reveal itself," said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager. "For those fans on the wait list, Chevrolet will send them an exclusive sneak-preview of the new Camaro just before the rest of the world sees it at the reveal."

There are 2,400 people currently on the waiting list as well if someone decides not to go for some reason.

Before the Camaro is unveiled attendees will get the chance to ride in a Camaro Z/28 around the Grand Prix course and tour a museum of classic Camaro rides, according to GM.

This week we got a look at silhouette teaser shot of the upcoming ride along with a glimpse of the aerodynamic improvements made.

Previously GM confirmed the ride will sport a 6.2-liter V-8 and 70 percent of components found on the car will be brand new.

Those who won't be in attendance should look for updates on the 2016 Chevy Camaro website.
