2016 Chevrolet Camaro Grille, Profile Teased Before May 16 Debut

With just four days remaining until the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is unveiled, General Motors has released perhaps its most revealing teaser shots yet.

As seen above, the first teaser revealed shows a silhouette of the forthcoming ride, which should give Camaro fans a good idea at what to expect this weekend.

The second teaser offers a glimpse at the aerodynamic improvements made to the coupe, as engineers worked about 350 hours in wind tunnels to make sure the car slips "more easily through the wind," according to GM.

Testing resulted in the development of an updated front grille and a brand-new flush belly pan that GM says will stretch from the front grille all the way to the center of the coupe. That improvement alone should help reduce total lift by 30 percent.

"The importance of aerodynamics increases exponentially as we increase vehicle performance," said Kirk Bennion, Exterior Design manager in a company statement.

Chevrolet has been teasing the six-generation Camaro for a number of weeks now, confirming that 70 percent of components found on the car will be brand new and it will be 200 pounds lighter.

We also know that GM's 6.2-liter V-8 will be the most powerful engine offered and each new Camaro will offer driving mode selections like sport driving and snow/ice touring.

A special public debut has been set for May 16 at Detroit's Bell Isle Park where the new Camaro will finally be introduced. While the debut is open to the public, GM reached full capacity in just 8 hours after the premiere event was announced, according to the 2016 Camaro website.

The 2016 Camaro reaches Chevy dealerships this fall and its first auto show appearance will take place in November at the 2015 LA Auto Show.
