Subaru to Debut Re-styled Legacy in NY

Subaru of America announced Thursday that the 2013 Legacy will debut at the New York International Auto Show next month.

The released photo showed a “sportier” look of the new Legacy, with new headlights, grille, and front bumper.

Yet, the biggest change came from the engine, where a new double-overhead-cam (DOHC) FB series 2.5-liter BOXER engine was installed. With the new four-cylinder engine, the 2013 Legacy 2.5i model in continuous variable transmission (CVT) claims achieve up to 32 mpg highway while producing 173 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft of torque. The rating, however, is not an official EPA fuel economy figure.

The six-cylinder 3.6R option, producing 256-horsepower, is still available for 2013 Legacy.

Safety has been enhanced with the new EyeSight driver-assist system that integrated Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking, and Vehicle Land Departure Warning. The stereo camera in EyeSight, according to Subaru, can provide a detection angle wider than any of radar-based systems.

The New York International Auto Show, which will be held April 6-15 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, is one of the most important automotive events in the world. The show offers virtually every make and model vehicle sold in the U.S. under one roof giving consumers the unique opportunity to see everything the auto industry has to offer.

The official opening day for the show is Saturday, April 7. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. with the show floor opening at 10 a.m.
