First Look: Infiniti QX30 Concept Revealed Ahead of the Geneva Motor Show

Tonight at the special gathering of media held in the center of the city of Geneva, Infiniti revealed the QX30 Concept, ahead of the start of media days for the city's auto show. The concept foreshadows the future production model, and will supplement the upcoming Q30 hatchback crossover.

As seen here, the QX30 shares many design cues with the Q30, but is slightly taller and has body gliding reminiscent of the Audi A4 allroad and the Volvo V60 Cross Country. Think of it as a direct competitor to the Mercedes-Benz GLA-class.

We were told that the design is close to the production version, and Infiniti President Roland Krüger announced the QX30 will officially enter production at some time. Whether or not the exterior's wild shapes will enter production with creases and concave edges and rounded surfaces and a hard-cut, reverse version of the famous BMW Hoffmeister kink-that's still to be decided. It's interior is a work of art, with quilted leather surfaces, particularly interesting floor mats, and a roof styled to maximize the view outside, following in the footsteps of the Q80 Inspiration.

Infinity declined to provide details about the specific powertrain that the QX 30 will eventually have, but we're fairly sure it's going to use a four-cylinder, turbocharged engine co-developed with Daimler-Benz.

We'll have more images of the QX30 Concept tomorrow from the show floor.
