Actress and singer Zooey Deschanel will add another title to her resume: fashion designer.

The 34-year-old "(500) Days of Summer" star has teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger for a new capsule collection that will launch at Macy's in April, Women's Wear Daily reported.

"I am a fashion fanatic, and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe," Deschanel told WWD. "Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations--old-school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons--and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece."

Called "To Tommy, From Zooey," the collection will mainly comprise retro-inspired, flirty dresses similar to the ones Deschanel is famous for wearing.

Hilfiger met Deschanel through a friend in California.

"She was wearing this vintage jumpsuit," the designer told WWD. "I complimented her on it, and she told me how she loved vintage. Somehow, the conversation went from loving vintage to possibly doing a capsule collection with her."

The fashion icon and the actress began working on the new collection about a year ago. Deschanel chose colors and fabrics for the capsule, which is made up of 16 dresses that reflect her quirky yet classic style.

"They are Sixties-inspired short dresses," Hilfiger said. "There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics."

The dresses, which will debut at 200 Macy's stores beginning on April 14, will be priced between $98 and $199. The lineup will launch on tommy.com on April 21 and is scheduled to spread to some Tommy Hilfiger stores in North America, Europe and Japan.

The collection including shirtdresses and fabrics like silks and linens has an overall aesthetic that Deschanel calls "Modical," a mashup of mode and nautical.

The "New Girl" actress has been an ideal muse for the next Hilfiger collection, the designer told WWD.

"We always try to ascertain whether or not someone is a 'Tommy girl,'" Hilfiger said. "She is the epitome of it--all-American, youthful, fun and funny, yet she has a sophistication and worldliness to her that's quite endearing."
