'Chevy Guy' Helps GM Create New 'Technology and Stuff' Campaign

General Motors is trying to make the best out of an otherwise embarrassing performance by a regional manager following Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday.

GM's Chevrolet brand sponsors Major League Baseball and awarded San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner with a brand new Chevrolet Colorado for being named Most Valuable Player of the 2014 series.

Rikk Wilde, a regional zone manager, was asked to present the keys to the truck to Bumgarner during the Fox post-game show. The sweating Wilde, who was introduced by Fox Sports announcer Erin Andrews, was clearly nervous to be on camera as he tried to describe the new Colorado.

As he started to say his lines, he became breathless and had to look to his notes. Wilde tried to do his best to ad-lib a line that has earned him an internet sensation. 

"It combines class-winning and leading, you know, technology and stuff, with Wi-Fi powered by OnStar," Wilde said during his presentation.

Almost instantly #TechnologyAndStuff started to trend on Twitter, along with #ChevyGuy. His performance was even compared by many on social media to the late comedian Chris Farley.

GM has embraced the attention received by the statement by using #TechnologyAndStuff in its social media advertising.

The automaker, who has no plans of firing Wilde, believes that part of the problem was that Wilde is a Kansas City Royals fan, according to ESPN.

The Royals has just lost Game 7 of the World Series to the Giants minutes before Wilde's presentation.

"A lifelong Kansas City Royal fan, Rikk was still a little emotional over the outcome of a tremendous seven game series," GM said in a statement, according to ESPN. "We believe baseball fans in Kansas City and elsewhere can relate with Rikk's authentic emotions."

Features that falls under Chevy's "TechnologyAndStuff" umbrella includes rear-vision camera, forward-collision alert, in-vehicle 4G LTE Wi-Fi and a 26-mpg V6 engine.
