The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission gets 22 miles per gallon for highway driving, according to Chrysler.

The Challenger SRT Hellcat equipped with a six-speed manual transmission delivers 21 mpg for highway driving. Chrysler says the new Challenger has better ratings than other sports cars with less power to offer, Edmunds.com reported.

"The new 2015 Dodge Challenger is the perfect street [to] strip muscle car," Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of Dodge and SRT brands, said in a statement. "As the fastest muscle car ever, the Challenger Hellcat can run 10-second ETs at the track, and then get 22 miles per gallon on the drive home. With a starting price of $59,995, there's nothing else that even comes close."

The new Challenger has the brand's most powerful V8 engine of all time: a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi Hellcat that offers 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.

The muscle car will come with two key fobs, red and black, in the standard trim.

"The red key fob is the only key that can unlock the full 707 horsepower and torque potential of the Challenger SRT Hellcat engine," Chrysler said in a statement. "While the black keyfob limits the driver to a reduced engine output of 500 horsepower."

The Challenger SRT Hellcat gets better mileage than the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, Aston Martin Vanquish and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT, according to Chrysler.

Fans can build their dream Challenger Hellcat online by selecting paint color and interior and exterior options in the recently launched configurator.

The nine exterior paint options include the classic Pitch Black Clear Coat as well as the unusually bright Sublime Green Pearl. The Ivory White Tri-Coat Pearl and Phantom BlackTri-Coat Pearl options will each cost $500 extra.
