Paul Rudd Replaces Oscar Winner as New Voice of Hyundai (VIDEO)

Actor Paul Rudd will serve as the new voice for Hyundai Motor America's national advertising.

Rudd's recognizable voice will first be heard in the new campaign for the 2015 Hyundai Sonata.

"We were looking for a voice that could be recognizable and relatable to a new generation of car buyers," said Steve Shannon, vice president of Marketing, Hyundai Motor America, according to a company press release. "Rudd can be serious, humorous, informative and entertaining all at the same time. It's his modern sensibility that we knew would be a perfect match for today's customers."

Rudd's first voice-over includes the new ad "Co-Pilot" which takes a funny approach towards the back seat driver mentality.

When two couples head into San Francisco for a night out on the town, they are joined by a man in the back seat.

"The backseat driver" is schooled by the Sonata's safety and navigation system as it directs the group. As Rudd's voice-over tells viewers, "Back-seat drivers just met their match."

Rudd, 45, is known for his roles in movies like "Anchorman," "Role Model," "I Love You, Man," "Clueless," and "Knocked Up."

He has also appeared on a number of television shows, including "Friends," "Reno 911" and "Parks and Recreation." He is currently filming "Ant-Man," which is set to reach theaters in 2015.

Rudd's predecessor, Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges, was the voice of Hyundai's ad campaign for seven years.

Though Bridges has been a fan favorite, Rudd should help bring in younger consumers.

"Hyundai's relationship with Jeff Bridges is one of the longest in the industry -narrating ads for industry leading vehicles and programs such as Hyundai Assurance," said Shannon. "While we say goodbye to an epic era with Jeff, we are extremely excited to have Paul come on board."

Rudd's previous commercial work includes ads for Nintendo video games, Samsung mobile phones, and Miller Lite beer.
