2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Starts at $78,995

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has been priced at $78,995, which includes $995 in destination fees, for the top-of-the-line model.

Set for deliveries in January, the performance coupe will be available for order from Chevy dealerships starting in the fourth quarter, Edmunds.com reported. Since Chevy didn't offer the Z06 coupe for the 2014 model year, the pricing compares to the 2013 version, which started at $76,595.

"This new Z06 is right on top of the old Z06 in terms of pricing, but it delivers the performance capability of the Corvette ZR1, which ranged in price from $112,000 to $125,000," Chevrolet spokesman Monte Doran told Edmunds.

The brand's strategy for pricing the 2015 Corvette is to "deliver customers more performance per dollar than ever before," Doran said.

The convertible version of the Z06 starts at $83,995 with shipping, while the base 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is listed at $53,995 including destination fees. Chevy dealers are now placing orders for the base Corvette Stingray, which is scheduled to ship in September.

Competing with the Ford Mustang GT500, Porsche 911 Turbo S and SRT Viper, the Corvette Z06 runs on a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 650 horsepower.

The Z06 is available with two package options: the Carbon Fiber Ground Effects package for $2,995 and the Z07 Performance package for $7,995.

The carbon fiber package includes "a functional carbon fiber front splitter, rocker panels and a larger rear spoiler," while the performance package adds "carbon ceramic-matrix brake rotors" for improved performance and handling, Edmunds reported.
