Aston Martin's 'Super Saloon' Car Will Probably Be Too Cool for You

British automaker Aston Martin plans to build a new supercar model under the Lagonda brand; however, the extremely exclusive model will only be available for a few customers in the Middle East.

Offered by invitation only, the "super saloons" will be modeled on the same platform as other recent Aston Martin offerings such as the Rapide four-door coupe, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"The debut of this luxury super saloon in the Middle East market will be an exciting moment not only for Aston Martin, but for discerning customers who are seeking the ultimate in luxury and personalization," Aston Martin design director Marek Reichman said in a statement.

The new Lagonda model will likely run on at least a V-12 engine and is expected to cost upwards of $750,000, said the L.A. Times.

"The new model, like its exclusive siblings the One-77 and V12 Zagato, has been created as a piece of exceptional automotive art," Reichman said in the statement.

Production for the new super saloon will begin next year; Aston Martin is expected to manufacture between 100 and 200 models.

Wearing Lagonda trappings, the high-end sedan will channel a 1976 classic car balanced with modern carbon-fiber body panels, Bloomberg News reported.

The carmaker is in the throes of a major investment program that will culminate in new vehicles for 2016. The biggest in its 101 years, the project began after an investment firm bought a more than one-third stake in Aston Martin.

Known for making the vehicles featured in James Bond films, Aston Martin is looking to become independent as it continues to compete with brands such as Fiat's Maserati and Volkswagen's Porsche.
