The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has confirmed that the 2015 Acura RDX crossover recently earned its highest five-star rating.

The automaker's new 2015 RDX received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test, according to the NHTSA.

The rating applies to all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive versions of the RDX based on crash tests conducted by the safety administration.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn't rated the 2015 RDX yet.

Standard safety equipment found on the new RDX includes:

Acura's new model is expected to compete with similar vehicles like the 2014-'15 Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Cadillac SRX, among other vehicles.
