Apple Debuts 16GB iPod Touch With Rear Camera For $199

Apple has announced that it has cut the cost of its three iPod Touch devices, one of which is now $100 cheaper, according to

The company also confirmed that it will add a rear-facing five megapixel camera to its entry-level 16 gigabyte iPod Touch, which will now come in six colors.

Available colors for the iPod Touch includes black, pink, yellow, blue, space gray, and red. The additions to that model are already available on the 32GB and 64GB devices, according to

Starting today (June 26,) the 16GB model is available for $199, after previously being sold for $229. The 32GB iPod Touch, which previously sold for $299, is available for $249, according to

The 64GB model will go for $299, which is a $100 price cut from its previous price of $399.

All three options come with a 4-inch Retina display, a forward facing FaceTime HD camera, and are powered by Apple's A5 processor.

They run on iOS 7 and come with free Apple EarPods. The iPod touch was last updated in June of 2013.

The announcement comes after Apple reported that its revenue from iPod dropped from $962 million to $461 million in the March quarter compared to the same time in 2013.

Sales have dropped so much for the iPod Touch that its sum didn't even get mentioned by the company during its financial results discussion last quarter.

Apple launched the first iPod back in 2001. It is now one of the lowest contributors to the company as many customers prefer purchasing its iPads or iPhones instead to listen to music or play games.
