Nissan Confirms Five-Year/100,000-Mile Basic Warranty For Light Commercial Vehicles

Nissan has announced a new five-year/100,000-mile basic limited warranty on its light commercial vehicles.

The new warranty covers all 2014 Nissan commercial vehicles.

Vehicles covered by this new warranty includes: the 2014 Nissan NV Cargo Van, NV200 Compact Cargo, and the NV Passenger Van.

The powertain limited warranty has also been extended from five-years/60,000 miles to five-years/100,000 miles, depending on which comes first, according to a Nissan press release.

The automaker's previous basic limited warranty coverage was three-years/36,000-miles.

"We're in the commercial-vehicle game for the long haul and this warranty will further help our customers to have greater confidence in our vehicles," said Fred Diaz, senior vice president of Nissan sales & marketing and operations, in a statement on Thursday.

Nissan said the 2014 NV200 Taxi is covered under a separate limited warranty with a different level of coverage.

The NV200 Compact Cargo is the base option for the 2015 Chevrolet City Express.

In comparison, the City Express offers a basic three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, according to GM.

The 2014 Ram ProMaster offers a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, according to Chrysler.

The 2015 Ford Transit Cargo Van offers a basic three-year/36,000 mile limited warranty, according to Ford.
