iPhone 6 Release Date, Rumors: New Device Taller Than Galaxy Note 3?

A video was posted on YouTube this week putting 4.7- and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 "dummy" models against current handsets like the iPhone 5S and Samsung's Galaxy Note 3.

If the mock iPhone's are anything like the final production devices, the 5.5-inch option will be noticeably taller than the gigantic Note 3.

As seen in the video, both iPhone 6 mockups are much larger than devices currently sold by Apple, like the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The larger iPhone overshadows the 5S, the Note 3, and even LG's G3.

The Note 3 is 151.2 mm tall, 79.2 mm wide and 8.3 mm thick (5.95 x 3.12 x 0.33 inches) and features a 5.7-inch display, according to Samsung's website.

The added height on the supposed iPhone 6 mockup is thanks to a carryover in design from previous iPhone models.

The extended bezel area to the top and bottom of the display have not been trimmed down on these Apple mockups.

The mockups shown in the video are supposedly from case manufactures using the devices as reference designs, according to AppleInsider.com

Rumored specs for the next iPhone device include: 1704 x 960 pixel resolution, a faster A8 processor, a thinner profile, bezel-free design, camera upgrades, and a more durable, sapphire screen.

A new iOS 8 operating system that the next iPhone will utilize debuted at Apple's 2014 Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this month.

If Apple follows its release date trend, the next iPhone, will likely arrive first in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, China, Canada, Germany, France, Singapore, and Japan.

Apple's iPhone 6 isn't expected to debut until sometime this fall.

Apple has not commented publicly about specs for its next iPhone device yet.
