Beats Says New Ear Buds Are Good for Six Days of Workouts

Beats Electronics has a new pair of wireless ear buds that can purportedly last for six days' worth of workouts on a single charge.

The $200 ear buds are geared toward athletes and were designed with the assistance of Miami Heat star LeBron James, the Los Angeles Times reported. James, a Beats investor, is poised to earn more than $30 million after Apple completes its purchase of the headphone maker, according to a recent ESPN.com report.

"Music is one of my main motivations when I work out, and I know others can relate because music takes people to a different place that inspires more energy and focus," James said in a statement quoted by the L.A. Times. "Ultimately, music and athletic performance are one, and through this partnership with Beats, we continue to push that envelope in every way possible."

Apple's $3 billion acquisition of Beats should be sealed by September. The Beats brand has quickly established itself among top-of-the-line headphones.

The new Powerbeats Wireless buds backed by James' endorsement are water-resistant and can connect to any Bluetooth device within 30 feet. Launching in stores and online soon, the ear buds will be available in black, white and red. The buds have a rechargeable battery for six hours of playback and can be boosted for an extra hour after just 15 minutes of charging, PCMag.com reported.

As the wireless headphones market almost doubled last year, the market for headphones above $100 grew 21 percent to pass $1 billion, according to the market analysis firm NPD.
