2014 Kia Forte Earns Four-Star Safety Rating From NHTSA

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that the 2014 Kia Forte sedan and hatchback have earned a four-star overall safety rating.

The 2014 Forte received three stars in the front crash test, four stars in the rollover crash test, and five stars in the side crash test.

Five stars is the highest rating a vehicle can receive from the NHTSA.

The 2014 Forte also recently received "Good" ratings in every crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests.

It did earn a "Poor" rating in the small overlap front crash test however.

The small overlap front crash test was designed to replicate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle hits an object like a tree or utility pole or another vehicle.

Standard safety equipment found on the 2014 Forte includes:

-electronic stability control

-six airbags

-antilock brakes

The 2014 Forte competes with the 2014 Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla, among other vehicles.

The 2014 Kia Forte Koup has not been rated, nor has the 2015 Kia Forte.
