2014 Dodge Journey Earns Four-Star Safety Rating from NHTSA

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that the 2014 Dodge Journey has earned a four-star overall safety rating.

The 2014 Journey earned five stars in the side crash test, and four stars in the front crash test and the rollover crash test.

Five stars is the highest rating a vehicle can receive.

The rating applies to both all-wheel drive and the front-wheel versions of the Journey, according to the NHTSA.

Standard safety features found on the 2014 Journey includes:

-a driver-side knee airbag

-side-curtain airbags covering all three rows of seats

-electronic stability control with traction control

-antilock brakes

The new Journey competes with a number of similar models like the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, and Toyota RAV4, among other vehicles.

The 2014 Journey also earned "Good" ratings in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests, including the difficult moderate overlap frontal crash test.

The 2014 Chevrolet Equinox and Toyota RAV4 also earned NHTSA's four-star overall rating.

The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe has not been rated.
