2015 Honda Fit Release Date: New Vehicle Expected in Early June

Honda has confirmed that its redesigned 2015 Honda Fit will reach dealerships during the second week of June.

Shipments of the highly anticipated vehicle have been "slower than anticipated," according to a statement made by the automaker.

Honda had initially said in statement that the 2015 Fit would be available at Honda dealerships nationwide during the second half of April.

"We know our customers are excited about the launch of this all-new 2015 Honda Fit and we appreciate their patience as the on-sale date approaches," said Chris Martin, a Honda spokesman, according to Edmunds.

The Fit is being manufactured at Honda's new factory in Celaya, Mexico.

The plant is currently on track to build 200,000 Fits and HR-V subcompact crossovers annually for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The plant is equipped with some of the automaker's most advanced manufacturing technologies, according to the release.

"As this is an all-new plant, we are taking a measured approach to the production ramp-up and shipments from the plant have been slower than anticipated. As we build up substantial inventory to sustain the nationwide sales launch, deliveries of the 2015 to Honda dealerships will begin in the second week of June," said Martin.

The Fit competes with a number of similar vehicles like the 2015 Ford Fiesta, the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic, and Hyundai Accent, among others.
