Flappy Bird developer Dong Nguyen said to CNBC's Kelly Evans on May 14 that he will relaunch a version of the game on Apple's iOS App Store sometime in August, according to AppleInsider.com.

Flappy Bird, which first reached Apple's iOS App Store in May 2013, was pulled in February for being "too addictive," according to the game's developer.

"Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed," Nguyen said earlier this year. "But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it's best to take down Flappy Bird. It's gone forever."

The new version of Flappy Bird will include "less addictive" gameplay, but the creator failed to say what that means exactly.

A multiplayer option will supposedly be added to refresh the game, according to AppleInsider.com.

Shortly after the game was release it went viral due to its easy-to-play, difficult-to-master gameplay.

Flappy Bird was taken down unexpected after players started harassing Nguyen over its addictive qualities.

The game took Nguyen just three days to create, according to The Wall-Street Journal. At it's peak, the app was generating over $50,000 a day.
