2014 Lexus ES 350 Earns Five-Star Safety Rating from NHTSA

The 2014 Lexus ES 350 sedan has earned a top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Lexus' new ES 350 received five stars in front and side impact tests and four stars in the rollover crash test, according to the NHTSA.

Ratings apply to the 2014 Lexus ES 350 and ES 300h, according to the safety administration.

The ES 350 also earned "Good" ratings in all crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, including the moderate overlap front test.

The moderate overlap front test simulates what would happen in a frontal offset crash between two vehicles of the same weight, each traveling a little under 40 mph.

Safety features found on the ES 350 includes:

- electronic stability control

- antilock brakes

-10 standard airbags, including knee airbags for the driver and front passenger,

Optional safety features includes:

- a pre-collision system

- a lane-departure alert system

-a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert

The new Lexus competes with similar vehicles like the 2014 Acura RLX, and Cadillac XTS, among others.
