NHTSA Opens Investigation Into 37,656 2007 Nissan Quest Minivans

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into the 2007 Nissan Quest minivan for fuel gauge system failure after receiving over 10 consumer complaints.

The investigation includes 37,656 2007 Nissan Quest minivans, according to Reuters.

The NHTSA has received 12 complaints over inaccurate fuel gauge readings in 2007 Nissan Quest vehicles.

Each complaint received by the safety administration claimed that the fuel level gauge "indicated adequate fuel in the tank when there was none," according to Reuters.

"Two complaints reported over 70 miles of estimated available driving range before refueling on the distance-to-empty display when the vehicles stalled," said the NHTSA.

Each complaint was filed by Quest owners within the last 14 months.

The NHTSA has yet to determine if any crashes, injuries or fatalities are linked to the issue.

Safety regulators officially opened a preliminary evaluation into the issue recently, which occasionally leads to a vehicle recall.

"We are working with the NHTSA to address their questions and fully cooperate with the agency on this preliminary investigation," said Steve Yaeger, a Nissan spokesman, according to Edmunds.

The 2007 Nissan Quest has not been recalled as of press time.

Make sure to check back once the NHTSA has completed its probe in the Nissan vehicle.
