After months of speculation, Apple has officially announced details and pricing information for its new MacBook Air models.
Each base MacBook Air comes equipped with a dual-core 1.4GHz Core i5 with Turbo Boost up to 2.70GHz, whereas upgraded versions come with a 1.7GHz Core i7 with Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz.
Interested customers can expect a 100MHz speed increase compared to outgoing versions, according to an Apple press release.
"With MacBook Air starting at $899, there's no reason to settle for anything less than a Mac," said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, in a statement. "Macs have never been more popular, and today we've boosted the performance and lowered the price of MacBook Air so even more people can experience the perfect everyday notebook."
Online Apple Stores in the U.S. shows that four base MacBook Air options are available for sale, with starting prices ranging from $899 through $1,199.

Options include:
- 11-inch MacBook Air with 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor and 128GB SSD, available for $899
- 11-inch MacBook Air with 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor and 256GB SSD, available for $1099
- 13-inch MacBook Air with 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor and 128GB SSD, available for $999
- 13-inch MacBook Air with 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor and 256GB SSD, available for $1199
All four options are available to ship within 24 hours, while build-to-order deliveries will arrive within two to four days.
The 11-inch MacBook Air lasts up to 9 hours between charges and the 13-inch model lasts up to 12 hours, according to Apple.
Though the refresh doesn't bring Retina displays down, to the dismay of many MacBook fans, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo feels that Apple will debut a high-resolution model before the end of 2014.
The analyst believes the device will come with an all-new 12-inch design, a fan-less chassis, and updated "click-less" trackpad, according to Apple Insider.
