2014 Ram 1500 Recalled Over Transmission Issue

Chrysler will recalled approximately 125 2014 Ram 1500 4x4 pickup trucks due to a transmission issue, according to according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The issue may lead to a rollaway risk, which increases the chances of a crash.

"In the affected vehicles, the transmission case may have been improperly machined which can result in the park pawl not properly engaging when the transmission is in the 'Park' position," said NHTSA, regarding the issue. "If the park pawl does not properly engage, the vehicle may roll away, increasing the risk of a crash and occupant or pedestrian injuries."

Affected vehicles were built from January 24, 2014 through February 5, 2014.

All trucks are equipped with eight-speed automatic transmissions, according to the NHTSA.

Chrysler dealers are being instructed to inspect and replace the transmission if an issue is discovered. All repairs will be completed, free of charge.

Chrysler confirmed that currently it doesn't know of "any associated injuries, accidents or customer complaints" in a statement posted on the automaker's website.

The recall will begin sometime this May.
