The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will be available in two design packages when it hits showrooms later this year.

Called Atlantic and Pacific, the packages will be optional, and pricing for the vehicle and both special design versions should be announced in May, Chevrolet spokesman Monte Duran told Edmunds.com on Monday.

"We plan to make news with the Corvette Stingray every year, in part by offering special-edition models that offer a unique, personal ownership experience," said Todd Christensen, Corvette marketing manager, in a statement quoted by Edmunds.

The Atlantic and Pacific packages were first seen in concept versions at 2013's SEMA Show. The updated Stingray will also include an eight-speed automatic transmission as an option, while a seven-speed manual transmission is standard on all versions.

The concept forms of the new design packages were well-received by car fans, according to the automaker.

"A strong response from enthusiasts helped influence production," GM said in a statement quoted by Edmunds.

Intended to emulate private jets at popular European vacation spots, the Atlantic design package will be available for Z51-equipped convertibles in 2LT or 3LT trims. The 2015 Corvette Stingray Atlantic Design Package features "a front Z06-style splitter, Shark Gray exterior vents, Chrome Torque wheels with Stingray center caps and custom luggage," according to Edmunds.

The Pacific package, which connotes the style of West Coast drivers who frequent weekend races, will have touches including full-length racing stripes in Satin Black, red brake calipers and carbon-fiber trim on the interior.

Chevrolet's innovative new Performance Data Recorder system will be available as an option for both the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and 2015 Corvette Z06, offering audio, video and graphics playback on the vehicle's touchscreen.
