Kia has revealed details and images of its new Carnival ahead of the vehicle's scheduled debut this week at the New York Auto Show.
The vehicle, which will no longer be called the Grand Carnival, will feature three-point seatbelts and full-length curtain airbags for all occupants, according to a company press release.
New standard safety features include Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Roll Over Mitigation (ROM), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist System (BAS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).
"Throughout the development process, our engineers in the US and Korea focused on adding the element of desire to the all-new Carnival with improved driving dynamics and power and the incorporation of modern styling cues, premium materials and technology," said Orth Hedrick, Kia Motors America's vice-president of product planning, according to the release.
Safety options available for the Carnival includes: Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS), and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM).
In North America, the Carnival will be available with either seven or eight seats, and with a V6 or a V8 engine.
The new V6, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, will feature dual continuous variable valve timing, according to Kia.
LED tail-lights, an integrated rear bumper guard, and optional 19-inch alloy wheels give the Carnival a more sportier appearance compared to its predecessor.
"Combined with a host of active and passive safety features and technology, the completely redesigned Carnival retains the functionality the nameplate has always been known for, while rising to meet the diverse needs - and tastes - of today's consumers," said Hedrick.
All 2015 Carnival vehicles come with a third-row seat that's split 60/40 and folds flat into the floor, according to Kia.
Downloadable apps for the new vehicle includes iHeart Radio, Pandora, and Yelp. It will also incorporate Google's Local Search and Siri Eyes Free.
