Yahoo to Purchase News Distribution Network For $300 Million?

Yahoo Inc. is reportedly in talks to purchase online video service News Distribution Network for approximately $300 million, according to a report released by the Wall Street Journal.

Discussions are still early, and a deal may not be reached for "several weeks" or could "fall apart" according to the report.

Yahoo has yet to comment publically regarding the deal.

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has made it clear online videos are the centerpiece of her strategy to get users to spend additional time on the search browser.

NDN is an online-video service that works with other online publishers and newspapers.

The deal would definitely help Yahoo in a number of ways. They would be able to offer thousands of new sites, while also potentially creating more opportunities for marketers to work with them, according to the report.

Yahoo is not commenting on the news yet, but a spokeswoman for NDN denied the report when questioned by the Wall-Street Journal.

"We are not in talks to get acquired by Yahoo at this time," Krystal Olivieri, a spokeswoman for NDN, said in an interview.

Yahoo has previously made headlines for going after NDN back in 2012, but a deal wasn't reached between the two companies. Talks renewed the past couple of weeks however.

The deal would be Mayer's second largest at Yahoo, according to Forbes. The company spent $1.1 billion on Tumblr last year.
