2014 New York Auto Show: 2015 Toyota Camry Confirmed

Toyota has confirmed the 2015 Toyota Camry will debut on April 16 at the 2014 New York Auto Show.

Experts also believe the automaker will announce a new engine or transmission in an attempt to boost the vehicle's fuel economy as well, according to Edmunds.

The automaker said it "will reveal a refreshed Camry that will challenge conventional expectations of a mid-cycle model change," according to a company press statement.

No further details have been provided regarding the new model.

The last time Toyota redesigned the Camry was for the 2012 model year, so an update was expected. The vehicle won't receive a major redesign until sometime in 2018, according to an industry expert, who spoke with Edmunds.

"When you sell 400,000 of anything you have to appeal to a broad consumer base," Bill Fay, Toyota Division general manager, said to Edmunds at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. "That kind of approach goes into everything we do. We have to keep that appeal with Camry if we are going to keep the pace where it is at."

Camry has been the top-selling car in the U.S. the last 12 years.

The automaker sold over 400,000 Camry vehicles in 2012 and 2013, and company executives have promised the vehicle will be No. 1 again in 2014.

The Nissan Altima was the top seller in January and February however, according to Reuters.

Make sure to check back once more information is released regarding the new Camry.
