Google has announced that Google Now notifications will be rolling out for users on the desktop Chrome browser.

The company detailed the update in a blog post and a tweet that was posted Monday morning.

"If you use Google Now on your mobile device, you can see certain Now cards on your desktop computer if you're signed into Chrome, including weather, sports scores, commute traffic, and event reminders cards," Google said in the blog post.

The update, which will continue rolling out during the next few weeks, lets users see Google Now notifications on desktop Chrome, newly synced with their smartphones, TechCrunch reported.

Users need to log onto Google Chrome on their desktops with the same credentials they use on iOS or Android devices.

The Chrome desktop version of Google Now uses a "subset" of the Now cards, Google said.

Google Now uses information about the device's location, so users should check their location settings, which can be edited at any time.

Location Reporting and Location History are both in the location settings, which can be managed separately for each device that uses Google Now, according to the Google blog post.

Chrome Now will continually check for a user's location to keep displaying timely Now cards showing traffic updates, weather and more.

Users can turn off Google Now in Chrome by opening the notifications center (indicated by an icon in the lower right corner of the screen for Windows and the upper right for Mac), clicking the gear icon and then deselecting the box next to "Google Now."
