$6,000 Briefcase Unfolds into Electric Scooter (VIDEO)

Meet the Commute-Case, a briefcase that can take you to work.

The 27-pound briefcase transforms into an electric scooter when sections at the front and back are extended and wheels and a set of handlebars are popped out, according to Green Car Reports.

Available for $5,990 regular price or $2,995 in a special introductory offer, the Commute Case comes in eight different colors and has three operational functions: briefcase mode, travel mode and trolley mode.

"It's a scooter more in the upright, child's-toy mold than it is a proper step-through motorcycle, but it's surprisingly adaptable as a result," Green Car Reports described.

When fully folded, the machine measures 18 inches long by 13 inches wide by 4 inches tall, according to the website. It shouldn't take more than an hour to recharge, and the cost comes to about 10 cents per 25 miles. The Commute-Case's top speed is 12.5 mph, and its battery range is about 25 miles travel distance.

Featuring a laptop storage compartment and power for a GPS or phone, the device can transport a maximum of 275 pounds and be activated in 3-5 seconds.

While it's designed to be the size and shape of a briefcase, the Commute-Case might not be the easiest item to carry at 27 pounds. Fortunately, it can be put into trolley mode to be wheeled behind its owner like luggage.

According to the site, the machine is designed for use in all season and can be driven on wet surfaces or in the rain; however, it should not be driven over snow. The Commute-Case's battery life is expected to last 100,000 miles or 10 years.
