2014 Geneva Auto Show: Maserati Alfieri Concept Could Hit Showrooms by 2017

The Maserati Alfieri, that was unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, could be heading to showrooms around the U.S. soon, according to Edmunds.

A production version of the Alfieri would be priced around $100,000.

Maseriti designed vehicle based on the GranTurismo MC Stradale chassis, according to Edmunds.

The vehicle is equipped with a 460-horsepower 4.7-liter V8 engine mated to a six-speed transmission.

Maserati said to Edmunds that despite the fact that the Alfieri has yet to be approved for production, there is a "strong likelihood" it will debut by 2016 or 2017.

"As with all concept cars, there is a strong desire to turn the Alfieri into reality," said Maserati in a statement.

Features would include a passenger compartment, a truncated tail and a two-tone dashboard and a central infotainment screen.

The Alfieri is expected to be the successor to the Maserati GranSport, according to the automaker.

"Though not yet at the final prototype stage like tomorrow's Grand Touring, it has nevertheless been conceived, designed and created in an approach aimed at 100 percent realism," said Maserati.

The vehicle would compete with similar models like 2014 Porsche 911, Audi R8 and 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe.
