Zynga Reveals March Soft Launch For Three Mobile Games

Zynga Inc. announced this week it will launch updated new versions of "FarmVille 2: Country Escape" and two other titles before the end of this month, according to a report by Reuters.

The company will release new versions of games like "Zynga Poker" and "Words With Friends," as it looks to remake itself as a mobile gaming business.

The three games will be introduced on iOS and Android phones and tablets in unannounced select markets before launching officially sometime this June.

The company recently acquired mobile game developer NaturalMotion, known for producing the hit game "Clumsy Ninja," for $527 million.

"Did the company miss a beat with the transition to mobile? Absolutely. Are we fixing that? Yes, we are," Chief Executive Don Mattrick said in an interview last week according to Reuters.

Shares in Zynga have increased 65 percent since July 1 when it was announced Mattrick, the former heard of Microsoft Corp's Xbox business, would replace co-founder Mark Pincus as CEO.

Zynga used to rely heavily on selling virtual goods to its users on Facebook, before its users started abandoning Facebook games for mobile options.

Mattrick said the company hopes to be "the leading, at scale content company in the free-to-play space".

The updated "FarmVille" game will include new elements like a virtual goods exchange and a chat portal within the game, according to Reuters.

Users will also be able to play the games offline.
