Secret List Reveals 2015 Steve Jobs Postage Stamp

Technology pioneer Steve Jobs will be commemorated with a new postage stamp along with such icons as Charlton Heston, Harvey Milk and the Peanuts gang.

While the list of new stamp designs is kept top secret, The Washington Post has obtained a copy of the document.

The stamp featuring the Apple co-founder is in design development for next year, Venture Beat reported.

The ideas for the designs are selected through a "collaboration between the Postal Service's marketing staff and a committee of prominent Americans appointed by the postmaster general to come up with ideas," according to the Post.

The Jobs stamp is still in design development along with stamps featuring Elvis Presley, James Brown and Johnny Carson, all of which have been planned for 2015 collectibles.

Some upcoming stamps whose designs have been completed and approved include "Pioneers of Graphic Design," "Wedding Roses" and a stamp with Hollywood legend Ingrid Bergman. The stamp featuring the iconic "Casablanca" actress should appear in 2015.

The list of designs is a work in progress, and the stamp images "are subject to change," Susan McGowan, the Postal Service's executive director for stamp services and corporate licensing, told the Post.

Stamp design subjects have typically had traditional figures that are part of American history, culture and literature. But as the Postal Service struggles financially, officials are hoping to bring in more money and attract young stamp collectors with the new designs, the Post reported.

Swinging in favor of "popular subjects," the new path for stamp designs has been the subject of controversy among stamp collectors and purists.
