2014 Honda Odyssey Earns 5-Star Safety Rating From NHTSA

Honda has confirmed that its 2014 Honda Odyssey recently earned the top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2014 Odyssey competes in the same segment as similar vehicles like The Odyssey competes with the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country, Kia Sedona and Toyota Sienna.

The 2014 Sedona and Sienna also earned a five-star safety ratings, according to the NHTSA.

The minivan received five stars in front and side impact tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The 2014 Odyssey was also recently named a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The vehicle earned "Good" scores in every crash test conducted by the IIHS, including the challenging small overlap front and moderate overlap front crash tests.

Many vehicles who earn a Top Safety Pick rating often perform poorly in the small and moderate overlap tests, so the fact that the Odyssey passed both of them could mean an increase in sales.

"The 2014 Odyssey is the only minivan to earn the highest possible rating of Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS, including a top score of good in the new small overlap front test, and the NHTSA five-star overall vehicle score for 2014," said American Honda Motor Co. in statement this week.

The Odyssey includes standard safety features like antilock brakes, six airbags, and stability assist with traction control.
