2014 Chicago Auto Show: 2015 Subaru Legacy Finally Introduced

Subaru introduced its new 2015 Legacy at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show which the automaker has said will provide higher fuel efficiency along with the biggest interior passenger volume in the midsize segment, according to a company press release.

The vehicle is the only in its class to offer standard All-Wheel-Drive and comes equipped with an updated EyeSight system and available rear radar system designed to help drivers avoid crashes.

The 2015 Legacy can be equipped with either 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder Boxer engine options, and standard Lineartronic CVT and Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive, according to the automaker.

Estimated ratings listed for the Legacy includes 26 mpg city/ 36 mpg highway/ and 30 mpg combined, which matches or exceeds fuel economy for many other midsize vehicles that come just with front-wheel-drive.

Interested customers can expect the new Legacy to hit dealerships during summer 2014, according to Subaru. The vehicle will be available in Standard, Premium, and Limited trim models.

Some features the Subaru comes equipped with includes: a rear-view camera, a rollover sensor that is capable of deploying side curtain airbags, and new front seat cushion airbags, to help keep occupants in place in the event of a frontal crash.

The 2015 Legacy 2.5i is powered by a double-overhead-cam (DOHC) FB series 2.5-liter BOXER engine that was introduced for the 2013 model. The engine reduces the vehicle's weight, provides a quieter ride, and improves efficiency, according to the automaker.

The vehicle's power has been increased as well, to 175 hp, compared to 173 hp that the previous model achieved. Torque is still at approximately 174 lb.-ft., according to Subaru.

An upgraded standard infotainment system has been confirmed by the automaker as well. Consumers can expect a 6.2 infotainment system in the Legacy, with an AM/FM stereo, HD Radio, Radio Data Broadcast System, iPod control capability, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, audio steaming, USB port and aux. input jack.
