2014 BMW 740Ld xDrive Priced at $83,425, Will be Available This Spring

BMW has confirmed its 2014 BMW 740Ld xDrive, a diesel-power version of the 7 Series sedan, will be sold for $83,425, when it hits U.S. showrooms

Pricing includes a $925 shipping fee charge, according to BMW,

Likewise, the gasoline version of the 2014 BMW 740Li sedan will be sold for $78,925, including the $925 destination fee.

The 740Ld xDrive will make its debut in the U.S. at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show next month.

The long-wheelbase, diesel engine version of the 7 Series is available now.

BM has equipped the vehicle with a 255-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder diesel engine linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The diesel option also comes equipped with all-wheel drive. The 740Ld xDrive is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds, according to the automaker.

EPA estimates have not been posted yet for the 740Ld xDrive.

BMW said "other models equipped with this engine have seen a 25-30 percent improvement in fuel efficiency over their direct gasoline-powered counterparts," to give an idea what customers can expect for the 740Ld xDrive.

The EPA said the gasoline version the 2014 740Li xDrive is capable of delivering 19 mpg in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway, according to BMW.

The BMW 740Ld xDrive competes with the 2014 Audi A8 L TDI, which is similar to the xDrive.

BMW said interested customers can expect the 740Ld xDrive to be available this spring.

The Chicago Auto Show will take place from Feb, 8-17.
