2015 Subaru Outback, Legacy to Come With Upgraded EyeSight System

Subaru has confirmed that its 2015 Subaru Legacy and Outback will be equipped with the automaker's EyeSight system.

The system helps drivers avoid crashes through a number of different technologies.

The EyeSight driver assistance system gets color cameras with "a longer and wider detection range" for finding different obstacles along with brake-light detection, both of which should help drivers avoid problems during their commute, according to Edmunds.

The system uses two different cameras attached near the rearview mirror which helps provide safety features like pre-collision braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control, according to the automaker.

Pricing for the new EyeSight system has not been revealed by Subaru yet.

More Subaru vehicles will get the technology, but Michael McHale, a company spokesman, said to Edmunds that he could "only say it's coming to Legacy and Outback at this point."

The system is currently available as part of an optional $3,940 package for the 2013 Subaru Legacy. The package includes a navigation system along with a moonroof, according to Subaru.

Subaru also makes the system available on the 2014 Subaru Forester as part of a $2,400 package. The optional package includes keyless start and access, according to the automaker.

Three more safety technologies will be unveiled by the automaker for the 2015 model year.

The features include lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot detection.

Subaru has not announced which models will come included with the technologies, launch timing, or pricing.
