2014 CES: Concept Mini Cooper Features Abbey Road Sound System

A 2014 Mini Cooper Clubman S has been outfitted with a studio design concept including 12 Panasonic speakers and an amplifier for this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America and Abbey Road Studios collaborated on the project, which was unveiled Monday at CES, said a press release.

"Bringing together Panasonic's automotive audio expertise, with the experience of our engineering team and legendary audio equipment is a powerful combination. This demonstration vehicle is the vision of two companies that share a passion and love for both music and remarkable audio experiences," Jonathan Smith, senior vice president of Abbey Road Studios, said in the press release.

The unique concept has two equalizers designed and built by the Abbey Road Studios engineering department. The authentic equalizers have been used since the 1970s at the legendary recording studio, which has been a recording spot for such legendary artists as the Beatles and Pink Floyd.

Some of the iconic tracks produced at Abbey Road Studios can be enjoyed in the concept car through a personal radio streaming service.

"We received overwhelmingly positive reactions when our collaboration agreement with Abbey Road Studios was first announced at the 2013 North American International Auto Show," Tom Gebhardt, President, Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America, said in the press release.

"People around the world continue to enjoy the vast collection of great music recorded, produced and mastered at Abbey Road Studios," Gebhardt said. "We are pleased to share our combined vision of the Abbey Road Studios premium audio system in this world's first demonstration vehicle. Now people can have an Abbey Road Studios sound experience whenever they are driving."
