iPhone 6 Rumors: 4.7 and 5.7-Inch Devices Coming in 2014

Unnamed Foxcoon executives have confirmed that Apple will launch two iPhone devices this year that will come with screens measuring 4.7 and 5.7-inches, respectively, according to Chinese social media website Weibo.

The executives said that Apple is planning on making a "one-time exception" this year by releasing two brand new iPhones with bigger displays than then previous iPhone devices.

Rumored specs for the new iPhones includes improved Touch fingerprint ID scanners, similar to the scanner found in iPhone 5S devices.

The 4.7-inch display size would be a large increase compared to the base 4-inch screens used for devices like the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S. The 5.7-inch screen device will look gigantic next to its smaller predecessors however.

It seems clear that Apple is striving to keep up with the pace set by Samsung with its flagship Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy S4 comes with a 5-inch screen, and the S3 is 4.8-inches, both of which are bigger than the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S.

The Android-run Moto X is 4.7-inches as well, according to Google.

Apple has not confirmed it will be releasing two new devices, nor has it confirmed the screen sizes, or what the devices will be called.

The original iPhone came with a 3.5-inch display.
